Mistakes you might be making while washing your face

Washing your face is one of the most important steps of skincare routine and you cannot afford to go wrong with it. And this skincare step is something that you perform both during day and night, once after you wake up and once before hitting the bed. As easy as this step may sound or feel to you, it’s considerably easy to go wrong with it. Washing your face after a long day is the best feeling ever but it should be done right and in the right order to see the effective results. No matter how good of a face wash you are using but if you aren’t performing the step in the right way then you’re only wasting your time, energy, and the product. Some girls often complain of dryness or oiliness even after properly cleansing their face and the chances are they aren’t washing their face in the right manner which is not only making their face oily or dry but is also resulting in pesky acne.
The minute you stop making these face-washing mistakes, you will achieve healthy, dewy, and glowy skin in no time.

Using dirty hands to wash the face

One of the worst things you could possibly be doing is to wash your face with dirty hands. Some women have the habit of washing their face without cleaning their hands before. They do not realize that they are actually subjecting their face to bacteria and dirt which can result in clogging of pores and ugly acne. And if they think that the face wash won’t transfer all the dirt from their hands to their face then they are highly mistaken because face wash doesn’t get rid of the dirt from your hands, in fact, they get transferred to all the area that you touch.

Washing your makeup off

Have you not ever heard of makeup remover? They are designed for a reason and you should always make use of it to get rid of every inch of makeup from your face. Removing your makeup by washing it off using a face wash is not the right way to do it. Firstly, you should always wipe your entire makeup off using makeup remover and then move on to cleansing. After you are done cleansing your face, apply toner using a cotton pad to ensure that no makeup residue or impurity is left on the face.

Using water that’s too cold or hot

You may have noticed that using too hot or too cold water results in your skin getting too dry or the pores getting shrink. You should be very careful with the water you are using to wash your face off. The water should neither be too cold nor too hot, it should be somewhere in between. Lukewarm water is considered suitable to wash your face.

Washing your face too fast

First of all, washing your face shouldn’t be just a regular thing for you which you can take for granted. To ensure that your skin behaves all the time and shows no sign of oil, dryness, or acne, it’s extremely important to cleanse your face properly and the time that you take to wash your face really matters here. Washing your face for just 10 seconds isn’t really going to cleanse your face properly. You should do it for at least 40 to 60 seconds in order to make sure that all the grime and residues have been taken off and also to ensure that the ingredients present in the face wash are working effectively to improve your skin’s texture.

Going harsh around the eyes

The area around your eyes is the most delicate part of your skin and one little mistake can result in extreme dryness and other problems in that region. This is why you should be very careful while washing your face and not rub or wash the skin around the eyes harshly or roughly. Do it gently and put very light pressure and you will be good to go.
